About Me
Shaping the future through early childhood education is my passion. I love being and working with children, and especially love observing and recording the discovery of their own abilities. Guided by this passion, I transferred my professional track from business to early childhood education years ago.
I have a degree in engineering, roughly two decades of experience in a corporate business environment, tutored math and science in K-12, and brought up my child in the standard education system. All this compelled me to re-evaluate and re-create my own curriculum once I started early childhood education. Early on I decided to study the Montessori Method because of its distinct scientific approach. The Montessori Method provides a wonderful foundation for young brains. In addition, today’s children’s interests and needs guided me to bring more science and arts disciplines into my work-space. My engineering and tutoring background also triggered my interest in STEAM education which in practice mainly applies to K6 to K20.
The authentic Montessori education for young children is an amazing tool that allows children to be able to build themselves. During this process they create their physical readiness via their hands. This allows them to dive into the limitless realm of curiosity and knowledge. The STEAM movement actually brings children a wealth of opportunities to satisfy their intellectual needs at a very early age. In addition to this, the basics of the idea sits on an individualized, hands-on education like the principles of Montessori and similar theories such as Reggio Emilia, and Steiner Education. STEAM, from my point of view, shapes and delivers young children’s future capacity on the basis of self-disciplined, individualized early childhood methods. Therefore being part of STEAM education was a logical choice for me.
As a self-taught artist, I also love to build programs around purposeful artistic activities that helps children to identify their own ideas in a concrete way. My training as an engineer gave me the ability to delve deeper into the underlying psychology of capturing the world that revolves around the child, particularly in the area of mathematics.
I have been working as a designer and creator of mathematics exercises for teachers at Pre-K and KG classes. I devised exercises for teachers that align with computerized math development activities to support the relevant app and mathematical understanding of children between ages 3 to 6. I have also contributed the development of STEM classes in the Far East.
I truly believe that education can shape the future of the world –as Nelson Mandela said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” is most important for me than anything.
Every child deserves the right to be part of the education that will shape the future of this world. With this blog I hope to contribute to the evolution of these educational methods and principles, and specifically introduce the concepts of STEAM education to the world of early childhood education.
